Jesse J. Warr Park Restoration
Jesse J. Warr Jr. led the fight for equal education in Prince George's County during the desegregation era. He became the county's first black school board chairman. His determination to do something about it led him to remain the only black on the school board for nine years. His optimism and patience brought new opportunities to the black youth of the county. In the summer of 2023, with the help of Kaboom! and Prince Georges County natives Markelle Fultz and Jermai Grant, the park was restored to continue to impact the youth of Fairmont Heights and the community Mr. Warr fought to uplift.
